Susan H Ziegert (nee Wenzel), 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was the proud mother of Scott (Amy) Ziegert, Kimberly Bangaoli, and grandmother to four granddaughters; Rachel and Danielle Ziegert, and Kaeli and Josie Bangaoil. She and her husband Jim enjoyed 58 years of marriage. She always faced life with a smile and a kind word for all.

Susan had a passion for teaching. She taught as an elementary teacher for MPS early in her career and after earning her Master's Degree she returned to the workplace as a Senior Learning Strategy Specialist until her retirement in 2011. Dedicated to civic advocacy, Susan volunteered for the Milwaukee chapter of the American Diabetes Association and was proud to have established the first day camp for children with diabetes in WI. She was awarded Volunteer of the Year for Wisconsin for 1982-1983.

During her retirement, Susan enjoyed such diversions as reading, taking nature walks, attending opera performances, training her dog, Wink, in obedience, and playing Scrabble. She loved cooking, baking and making recipes on her own.

Services will be held Wednesday, May 22, at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1415 Dopp St., Waukesha. Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. A  private interment ceremony will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Lancaster Wisconsin. Instead of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.

She leaves a legacy of love, educatiion, and cherished moments that her friends and family will forever treasure. Susan is preceded in death by her mother Helen and father Harry Wenzel. Susan will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
