Gladys Mae Deblitz (nee Pederson) was born March 14, 1919 in Vernon County, WI to Mathias and Betsy (Rudser) Pederson. She grew up on the family dairy and tobacco farm, attended the local one-room schoolhouse and then graduated from Viroqua High School in 1936. She died September 2, 2021 at Menomonee Falls Froedtert Hospital.
After HS graduation Gladys moved to Milwaukee and worked as bookkeeper and manager at Eva Caroline Laundry, enjoying many friends and the "single life: until she met Carl Deblitz whom she married on July 1, 1949. She enjoyed her life as a homemaker and mother. She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Brookfield, WI, joining in 1957 and serving in several church committees and offices and enjoying fellowship in the Women's Circles among other ministries.
In 1973 Carl and Gladys purchased a lake cottage in Summit Lake, WI and enjoyed many years of fishing, golf and friendship as part of the Knights Templar Club.
Gladys is survived by her children: Cathy (Ron) of Annapolis, MD, Caryl (James) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Carl R (Lucy) of Beverly Hills, FL; five grandchildren Bess Ganeff (Peter), Claire Bradley (Sean), Emily Fulcher, Sarah Fulcher and Timothy Deblitz. She also has 2 great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ganeff and Weston Bradley and a brother, Orris Pederson.Other nieces and nephews remain dear to her. Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Carl in 1994, brothers Oscar, Eddie, Raymond and sisters Effie and Marie.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14th at Immanuel Church, 4250 N 137th. St., Brookfield, WI. Visitation will be held from 11:30am - 1pm at the Church. The funeral service will begin at 1pm. A private entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Immanuel Church.
